The 2003 McChord Air Expo was the last of two popular attractions for
thousands of air show visitors since the late 80's. By June
2005, the Museums C-124 Globemaster and C-141 will be a
centerpiece of a new park for the McChord community. The
area will be east of "Overlook
Hill" which is adjacent to the Bases taxiway, and will
also provide a staging area for many Base activities including
The Air Mobility Command's Airlift Rodeo, that will next be
held in June 2005.
The Museums C-141 is currently undergoing extensive preparations for its
new home, which will include a brand new paint scheme, a
“retro” look. The "Tacoma Starlifter” will
once again wear the familiar "white top" from its
Military Airlift Command days. Updates will appear on the
"Restoration Hangar" found on this website.
